Scott McKinney’s C3N5U5 is a speculation on the future of data collection and polling. Viewers are prompted to add their feelings on current issues to a collected pool of responses. Collected responses are then projected upon the surface of relevant landmarks and icons quite literally inscribing the the opinions of the masses into the iconography of the American infrastructure. Collectively all the responses are stored in a database for further use and examination.

Scott McKinney’s work deals with the intersections between technology and social issues in our daily lives. He combines mixed media and digital media to create sculptures, videos, and 2d works that integrate emerging technologies into critical objects and stories. McKinney likes to twist bits of technology against themselves and creates fiction, based on the divide between expectations and results. He finds it important that the work is honest and critical of the integration of technologies into our daily lives. Critical thought towards mediated interactions is the only way to better ourselves and our future.
