re.riddle is pleased to announce its participation in EXPO Chicago from April 24-27, 2025. Come visit us at Booth 318, where a presentation of works by Odonchimeg Davaadorj will be exhibited.
Multi-media artist Odonchimeg Davaadorj (Mongolia/France) explores the relationship between the body, land and time via the lens of nostalgia, dreams and carnal narratives. In her mixed media work, Davaadorj references her childhood growing up in a remote village in Mongolia as well as the land as a powerful sacred source of power. Her figurative ink drawings and embroidered compositions often evoke a sense of melancholic nostalgia for her motherland, the animals, people of her youth. They often feature the color red, signifying blood and life, via ink or threads that weave through her drawings like a vein-like artery that brings together and breathes life into the disparate parts into a unified body. Preferring to utilize a limited color palette of red, blue and black, Davaadorj wants the viewer to primarily focus on her lines. The lines form silhouettes of her subjects, suggesting both the form coming into being as well as to convey their essence and simultaneous representations of both temporal and universal themes relating to life, death, body and the unknown.
